Annette So appointed as Director of the CJA

Statement from the Board of Trustees

The Criminal Justice Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Annette So as Director of the CJA from 1 April 2024.

Annette joined the CJA in 2021 as its first Deputy Director and has held the position of Interim Director since 1 October 2023.

Annette brings over 15 years of experience in the charity sector, having worked as a lawyer on human rights and criminal justice issues globally. Annette previously worked as Deputy Director of The Death Penalty Project where she led on strategy, organisational development, and programmes on criminal justice reform in Commonwealth countries and Asia. She is a trustee (and former Co-Chair) at Hibiscus Initiatives and The Rights Practice.

Nick Linfoot and Coralyn Burge, Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, said:

We are confident that under Annette’s leadership, the collective power of our membership will be further strengthened as the CJA takes strides towards our goal of a fair and effective criminal justice system.”

Our criminal justice system is in crisis, and the CJA has a vital role to play in connecting and cultivating key actors across the system to enact change.  I am proud to be leading the charity into its next phase and look forward to working with the team, our members, and those directly impacted to advocate for a more equitable criminal justice system.”
