Where to find help

The CJA is an advocacy organisation, working to influence change in criminal justice policy. We do not directly support people engaged with the criminal justice system. 

If you’ve been affected by crime, or if you or a loved one is in contact with the criminal justice systemyou can reach out to the below organisations for support. Click on the link to find out how you can contact the organisation. 

Legal support

Advicenow offers simple and clear information on a range of legal issues. 

Advocate helps individuals find free legal assistance from volunteer barristers. 

The Citizens Advice Bureau can advise you on some issues and help you access local legal support.  

Just for Kids Law provides direct legal representation to children and young people. 

The Law Society has a useful find a solicitor tool. 

Prison

The Prisoners’ Advice Service provides free legal advice and representation to prisoners in England and Wales regarding their rights and conditions within prisons.  

The Prisoners’ Families Helpline offers practical and emotional support, information and advice to anyone affected by imprisonment. 

Prison Reform Trust offers advice and information to people in prison. 

Victims of crime

The National Domestic Abuse Helpline offers support 24 hours a day.  

Victim Support runs a 24/7 helpline and live for people affected by crime, regardless of whether the crime has been reported to police.
